Mona Forsen announces retirement

Mona Forsen, CEO of Crosstown Civic Credit Union, has announced her retirement effective October 30, 2020.

Of her two decades of service in the credit union sector, Mona spent the last five years as the Chief Executive Officer of Crosstown Civic Credit Union. Her steadfast and inspired leadership has been fundamental to the achievements of the organization. As a leader, she guided her team through a period of incredible growth and change – changes which included a full rebrand strategy, a banking system conversion, and a merger.

Prior to being named CEO for Crosstown Civic, Mona fulfilled strategic and operational leadership roles in the credit union system, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and served on eight governing and advisory committees.

"Mona has been a great leader not only at Crosstown Civic Credit Union, but in the financial services industry as a whole," says Ingrid Loewen, Board Chair for Crosstown Civic. "The Board shares our gratitude for Mona. Her unwavering dedication and hard work led Crosstown Civic through some of the largest challenges a credit union can face. Thanks to her integrity and courage, her legacy is a well-capitalized, secure, respected, and thriving organization ready for our upcoming merger with Access Credit Union."

The Board has appointed Brent Berzuk as Interim CEO for the months of November and December. During that time, Brent will also continue to oversee Risk and Governance at CCCU. We welcome Brent to his new role and look forward to his leadership during what will be a very exciting period for us all as we transition to the new Access Credit Union. In addition, we have a dedicated and capable senior management team that will continue to provide strong leadership and support. Brent will assume his intended role as Chief Risk Officer for the new Access Credit Union on January 1, 2021 with Larry Davey continuing his current role as President and CEO.

We congratulate Mona on her accomplishments and wish her the best in her upcoming retirement.
