Get your CRA benefits faster

We want to minimize the financial impact of COVID-19 by helping you send your banking information seamlessly to the CRA to get your government benefits quicker.

We've launched a new feature within online banking to help you enrol for Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) direct deposit service. In the past, you would have needed to sign up for direct deposit through My Account or by using the MyCRA and MyBenefits CRA apps from your mobile device. Now, this enhanced feature will allow members to quickly designate what account they want their direct deposit to go to, all within CCCU online banking.

If you’re eligible for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), we encourage you to sign up for direct deposit as soon as possible to receive your benefit payments on time.

About Direct Deposit

Direct deposit is a secure electronic transfer of funds deposited straight into your bank account. It replaces the need for paper cheques and saves on mailing time, so you can get the help you need when you need it.

Fast: Receive your refund in as little as eight business days when paper returns could take up to eight weeks. Once you provide consent for your banking information to be shared with the CRA, your direct deposit information will be updated the next day.

Convenient: Take comfort in knowing that your payment amount will always be deposited on time directly in your account regardless of bad weather, unforeseen circumstances or postal disruptions.

Secure: Verify that a payment has been received by checking your bank statement on the account you used to sign up for direct deposit. Plus, direct deposit helps reduce the risk of mail fraud.

CRA Direct Deposit includes payments like:

  • Canada Emergency Response Benefit
  • Income tax refund
  • GST/HST credit and any similar provincial and territorial payments
  • Canada child benefit
  • Canada workers benefit

What is a direct deposit payment?

Direct deposit is a secure electronic transfer of funds deposited directly into your account at Crosstown Civic Credit Union. Direct deposit replaces the need to issue payments by paper cheque.

Fraud prevention: CRA or Crosstown Civic Credit Union will never send you an email, text or Interac e-Transfer® to a link asking for your personal information to receive your benefit payment or refund. These are scams and taxpayers should never respond to these fraudulent communications or click on any of the links provided. If you submit multiple requests to update your direct deposit information, the most recent enrolment you complete will become the account on file with the CRA.
